I had been planning to explore Biarritz for a while as it's really close to where I'm currently living. Originally I thought I would go next week but after checking the weather forecast - and seeing that Saturday would be the last sunny day for a while - I quickly changed my plans and booked a train ticket to Basque Country. When I arrived in Biarritz I took the bus down to the seaside and the first thing I saw was a huge casino & a beautiful beach stretching out in front of me. I decided to start my exploration by walking along the Grand Plage all the way to Plage du Miramar (I can't miss out on a beach that has basically the same name as me, right?). This beach was empty as the ways were crashing on the shore and the only surfer that attempted to take on the waves gave up after a few minutes. I enjoyed the quiet moments and the amazing view over the sea, the famous Hôtel du Palais and the lighthouse. Afterwards I sat on a bench near the beach enjoying my lunch (which definitely didn't consist of fries) before heading to the Port Vieux, the Old Harbour that is right in the centre of the city.
The harbour mainly serves as an attraction for tourists now, being home to many cute cafés and restaurants. After walking around for a bit I walked up all the way to the Rock of the Virgin from you had a stunning view over the city. I love how the city is structured and how everything is within walking distance. The are many beautiful places and the city centre is worth a visit as well, you can find the most delicious ice cream ( I went for white chocolate!) and plenty of restaurants and shops selling macarons and chocolate. Yes to French food. After taking a stroll through the city I went back to the beach and spend the rest of the day relaxing in the sun and listening to my playlist. I am really glad I used the last day of sunshine to explore such a wonderful seaside town, Biarritz has definitely conquered a place in my heart.
Have you ever been to Biarritz/ the south of France? xx
